Downtown Art Fair
MacRostie Art Center presents its annual summer art fair — a community celebration of art and creativity! The Downtown Art Fair will take place on Saturday, July 14 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on the Historic Central School grounds in downtown Grand Rapids. Admission to the event is free and the public is encouraged to attend. The Downtown Art Fair is sponsored by Rapids Printing, Lefty’s Tent and Party Rental, and Paul Bunyan Communications.
ART, MUSIC, & FOOD | REGIONAL VENDORS
Thirty regional artist vendors will be on-site from 9 am to 4 pm displaying and selling artwork including painting, glass, woodworking, pottery, jewelry, weaving, and more. Food vendors include Log Home Wood Fired Pizza and Up North Kettle Corn. Live music will be featured throughout the event with folk musician and multi-instrumentalist Paul Imholte from 10 am – 12 pm, followed by the jazz guitarist Briand Morrison on stage from 1 – 3 pm.
HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES & GAMES | FREE FOR ALL AGES
Art Fair patrons of all ages are invited to celebrate their creativity under the MAC tent with free hands-on activities throughout the day. MacRostie Art Center instructors will lead free art activities for kids and families, and artists from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and GoodSpace Murals will lead a community mural painting party to create a new mural for the MAC building. No art experience or pre-registration is necessary. The event will also feature artist-designed lawn games and a pottery demonstration by Iron Range ceramic artist Nathan Bray making bowls for the annual Itasca Empty Bowls Project.
RAFFLE | SUPPORT MACROSTIE ART CENTER
An art raffle benefiting the work of MacRostie Art Center will be held under the MAC tent throughout the day. $5 raffle tickets can be purchased in advance at MacRostie Art Center or at the Art Fair on July 14 for a chance to win. Grand prizes include a birch bark basket by John Zasada, a fish painting in the signature pointillism style of Leah Yellowbird, and a felted pillow by Dawnette Davis, as well as over a dozen art items donated by the on-site artist vendors. Raffle winners will be announced beginning at 3 pm.
