“Morning Calm” by Diane Levar

The Lake Superior Watercolor Society is a group of artists dedicated to the growth and appreciation of the art of watercolor in the general vicinity of Lake Superior. The society draws its vitality from the interaction between members at its monthly study group. The organization was formed in 1981 after a series of successful student exhibitions organized by Cheng-Khee Chee in collaboration with Bill Boyce of the Tweed Museum of Art.

The society maintains a fifty-member roster, meeting once a month during September-May to share ideas, information and inspiration by demonstrations and critiques. LSWS members are experienced watercolor artists with wide connections to teaching art and showing their work at various galleries and venues.

Participating Artists Include:

Anita Curtis - Anita Gille - Chris Dillon - Diane Levar - Edna Blanchard - Edna Stromquist - Judy Andersen - Judy King - Julia Byrnes - Karen Anderson - Karl Everett - Margie Helstrom - Mary Beth Downs - Mary Sobolik Petersen - Mary-Anne Kinane - Patricia K. Olson - Sue Pavlatos - Timothy Larson
