Call for Art: 32nd Annual Juried Show
In August 2024, MacRostie Art Center (MAC) will host its 32nd Annual Juried Exhibition featuring a collection of local and regional artwork selected by Gordon Coons. This juried exhibition is open to artists working in any medium and residing in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota.
Artists are invited to submit up to two pieces in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional categories. 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes will be awarded in each category.

About the Juror: Gordon Coons (Lac Courte Oreilles tribal member) is an Ojibwa and Ottawa artist living in Minneapolis, MN. He works primarily in painting and printmaking, and is known for the bright color palette of his work in the Woodland Style and for his fumage art using cedar smoke to create prints. Coons has exhibited across the country, has been featured in First American Art magazine, and has received numerous awards for his work through juried shows and at Native American Art Markets such as those in Santa Fe, NM, Sioux Falls, SD, and the Eiteljorg Art Market in Indianapolis, IN. In 2023 he co-curated and participated in a group exhibition at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
Call for Art: 2025 Solo and Group Exhibitions
MacRostie Art Center has two gallery spaces which each host bimonthly exhibitions and also manages the gallery at the Reif Performing Arts Center. The MAC Exhibit Committee is currently seeking proposals for solo and group exhibitions for 2025.
A solo exhibition proposal should include:
Written proposal outlining the exhibition – please include whether the work has been exhibited at another venue (where and when) and whether the work will be for sale (with approximate price points)
Artist Statement
Biographical Statement and/or Resume
6–10 digital images of your work that are representative of the exhibition proposal
A group exhibition proposal should include:
Written proposal outlining the exhibition – please include whether the work has been exhibited at another venue (where and when) and whether the work will be for sale (with approximate price points)
Biographical Statements and/or Resumes of all participating artists
6–10 digital images that are representative of the exhibition
Proposals are due June 30, 2024.
Notifications will be sent to artists by September 1, 2024.

Call for Art: Little Big Show
The Little Big Show is the MAC’s annual miniatures exhibition. A favorite of artists and audience alike, this exhibit encourages artists to think small! The exhibit will run from May 3 – June 28, 2024 in the Minnesota Gallery with an artists’ reception on Friday, May 3. This year’s featured artist will be Nancy Kingbird (Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe) a beadwork artist from Cass Lake, MN.
The Little Big Show is an open exhibition. Anyone may submit a piece that meets the following requirements:
One submission per artist
No more than 10" in any dimension including framing
Priced at no more than $100 (or listed Not for Sale)
Submissions must be received no later than Saturday, April 27, 2024.
Artists are responsible for the delivery and return of their artwork. Submissions may be delivered to MacRostie Art Center during business hours, Monday – Friday, 10 am – 5 pm, Saturday, 10 am - 4 pm, or mailed to:

Call for Art: Giinawind Gallery
The Giinawind Creative Space is a program of MacRostie Art Center and a center for Native art and artists in downtown Grand Rapids. We are seeking Indigenous artists interested in exhibiting their work at Giinawind for 2025 and will begin accepting proposals in May 2024.
