Call for Art : Little Big Show
Little Big Show is the MAC’s annual miniatures exhibition. A favorite of artists and audiences alike, this exhibition encourages artists to think small!
The exhibition will run from May 1 – June 26, 2026 in the Minnesota Gallery. This year’s featured artist is Rebecca Gramdorf, a ceramic artist and farmer based in Hermantown, MN.
Little Big Show is an open exhibition. Anyone may submit a piece that meets the following requirements:
One submission per artist
No more than 10" in any dimension including framing
Priced at no more than $100 (or listed Not for Sale)
Submissions must be received no later than Saturday, April 25.
Artists are responsible for the delivery and return of their artwork. Submissions may be delivered to MacRostie Art Center during business hours, Monday – Friday, 10 am – 5 pm, Saturday, 10 am - 4 pm, or mailed to:

Call for Art: Perform!
Group Exhibition at the Reif Gallery

MacRostie Art Center and The Reif Performing Arts Center are excited to announce Perform!, an open-call group exhibition presenting visual art about the performing arts. Examples of the performing arts include but are not limited to: dance, music, spoken word, and theater.
Artists of any age and level of experience working in any 2-dimensional medium are invited to submit one theme-appropriate, family-friendly piece. The exhibition will also feature a collection of photographs taken by Marija Leilynn while touring with the band Wild Horses.
The exhibition will run from May 11 – July 3, 2026 in the Reif Gallery, located at 720 NW Conifer Drive, Grand Rapids, MN.
This an open exhibition. Anyone may submit a piece that meets the following requirements:
One theme-appropriate submission per artist
Family-friendly subject matter suitable for viewers of all ages
Two-dimensional (wall-hanging) artwork only
No more than 30" in any dimension
Ready to hang
Submissions must be received no later than Saturday, May 2, 2026

Call for Art: 34th Annual Juried Show
In August 2026, MacRostie Art Center (MAC) will host its 34th Annual Juried Exhibition featuring a collection of local and regional artwork selected by Adam Swanson. This juried exhibition is open to artists working in any medium and residing in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota. Limit of 2 entries per category.

About the Juror
Adam Swanson is a painter and muralist based in Cloquet, MN. Inspired by science fiction, technological innovation, photography, and exploration, his projects include murals with school children, research with scientists, and a busy studio practice. He is a member of the Twin Ports Art Science Collaborative and teaches painting at the Grand Marais Art Colony. Adam has participated in residencies across the globe from Sweden and South Africa to Antarctica and India, and his work has been shown in local, national, and international galleries including the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, MN; MIT Visual Arts Center in Cambridge, MA and Växjö Konsthall (Museum of Modern Art) in Växjö, Sweden.
Call for Art: 2027 Solo and Group Exhibition Proposals
MAC has two gallery spaces which each host bimonthly exhibitions and also manages the gallery at the Reif Performing Arts Center. The MAC Exhibit Committee is currently seeking proposals for solo and group exhibitions for 2027.
A solo exhibition proposal should include:
Written proposal outlining the exhibition – please include whether the work has been exhibited at another venue (where and when) and whether the work will be for sale (with approximate price points)
Artist Statement
Biographical Statement and/or Resume
6–10 digital images of your work that are representative of the exhibition proposal
A group exhibition proposal should include:
Written proposal outlining the exhibition – please include whether the work has been exhibited at another venue (where and when) and whether the work will be for sale (with approximate price points)
Biographical Statements and/or Resumes of all participating artists
6–10 digital images that are representative of the exhibition
Proposals are due June 30, 2026.
Notifications will be sent to artists by September 1, 2026.
