Art Shop Consignment for Artists

The Art Shop at the MacRostie Art Center carries a wide variety of one-of-a-kind work by local and regional artists including: jewelry, fiber arts, blown glass, ceramics, painting, drawing, and more.

If you are interested in selling work on consignment through the Art Shop or updating your existing inventory, see below for the MAC’s process and submission guidelines.

New Applications

If you are new to the MAC’s Art Shop or haven’t had work displayed with us in several years, start here!

Complete an Art Shop Application

  • The online application includes space to upload 4-8 images that accurately depict the artwork. These images will only be used for our consideration of your application. Upon acceptance to the shop, we will create product photography for our use promoting your work.

  • Please name your images in the following manner: LastnameTitle.jpeg (Ex. VanGogh_TheStarryNight.jpeg)

  • You will receive an email within 10 business days with a response and further instructions for accepted artists.

Do not bring in any work until your application, contract, and inventory forms are completed, and you receive notification your work has been accepted by Art Shop Manager.

If you have trouble completing the online application, or to receive a copy of the application by mail or email contact our Art Shop Manager at krista@macrostieartcenter.org or call 218-326-2697.

Current Shop Artists

For artists who have had their application approved or have a current consignment contract, here’s how to update your inventory.

  1. Make an appointment! For the best experience bringing in new work or checking out older items, let us know you’re coming. Contact us at krista@macrostieartcenter.org or call 218-326-2697. We’ll review the work you plan to submit, make any suggestions about quantities or items based on current shop inventory, and provide you with an inventory sheet to upload your information.

  2. Update your contract. We have a new Consignment Contract and will need a signed copy on file in order to display your work. Please take time to review the contract and contact us with any questions.

  3. Submit your artist bio. Our visitors love hearing more about the artists on display! If you have an artist statement or biography already written, please make sure the MAC has a copy. If you do not have one, MAC provides free consultations for artists’ professional development. Contact us to set up a consultation or complete our online form to generate a basic Artist Bio.

Art Shop Submission Guidelines

The MacRostie Art Center is committed to serving local artists. We strive to present your artwork as best as we can and are continuously adapting to better serve our community. The following guidelines ensure that we can represent your work fairly and display it to its best effect. We reserve the right to refuse to display any work that does not meet these guidelines.

  • Artwork must be handmade, original art created by the artist offering work for consignment. A limited number of prints may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.

  • Artwork must be display-ready based on the medium and manner of presentation.

  • All applicable work must be suitably framed and wired for hanging. It is recommended that frames be kept relatively simple and white, black, or wood. Hanging wires are the preferred method of hanging. Alternative hanging methods may be approved on a case-by-case basis.

  • Artwork must be clearly labeled on the back or otherwise affixed with artist name, title, and price.

  • Do not bring in any work until your application, contract, and inventory forms are completed, and you receive notification your work has been accepted by Art Shop Manager.

If you have any questions about these guidelines, please contact our Art Shop Manager Krista Rogers at krista@macrostieartcenter.org.
