DeeDee Narum is a mosaic artist living in Bemidji, Minnesota. She has been working in mosaics for over 20 years and began teaching mosaics after moving to Bemidji in 2020.

DeeDee received her B.F.A. in Studio Art from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois. She explored many mediums over the years. Mosaic art has held her interest because of the many different forms it can take. Stained glass, mixed media, wood, dishes, tiles, etc. So many options to use for creating one-of-a-kind pieces.

Her work is often inspired by her garden and the natural world, focusing on birds, flowers, fish and other intriguing creatures and landscapes. DeeDee does not limit herself to one style of mosaics because she gets drawn into the curiosity of trying new things including playing with abstracts and whimsy that pique her interest.

Although DeeDee focuses primarily on Stained Glass Mosaics, she does delve into fabric,  paper collage and mixed media, which she calls her “creative othering mode”. She feels the experimentation with other mediums helps add depth to her mosaic work.
