Charlotte Hanegmon is a textile artist specializing in silk scarves and clothing. She first learned about silk painting in 2009 while visiting her sister, a professional artist, in VA. What followed was a lot of practice - over 1,000 textile pieces painted – and learning from books, videos, other artists, and eventually creating a business, “Silk Scarf Painting with Charlotte.”

A former teacher, Charlotte and her “Scarf Ladies” taught over 500 students and describe silk painting as ‘go-with-the-flow painting”. The paint is very runny and spreads quicker on silk than watercolor paint on paper.

Charlotte now paints hankies, bandanas, masks, shirts, beach cover-ups, dresses, shawls, placemats, table runners, flour sack dish towels, and more. The last couple years, her love for acrylic painting on denim has really grown.

Charlotte’s work may be found at MacRostie Art Center, the Iron Range Makerspace in Hibbing, Northwoods Friends of the Arts in Cook, and at the December Holiday Maker Market in Hibbing.
