Harriet Campe

Harriet Campe grew up on a farm in southern Minnesota and graduated from Bemidji State with majors in biology and chemistry. She worked in research labs for many years.

Harriet took up pottery as a hobby over thirty years ago. For twenty-plus years, she has taught studio pottery, ceramic science, Asian brushwork, and Japanese gift wrapping at the Edina Art Center.

After a few years working in stoneware, Harriet switched to porcelain. She paints most of her throw pots in Asian style with colored slips. She also uses rolled slabs to hand-build some of the pots. Harriet has recently started using ceramic stains to color her porcelain creations. Her pots are food safe and can go in the microwave and dishwasher.
