Bracelets 101

This class is designed for the person who is new to jewelry making but has always wanted to try it.  Memory wire will be sued to create a 5 wrap bangle bracelet.  Students will choose a color scheme for a variety of beads and stones to construct their own creations.  All materials will be supplied by the instructor.  Choose one session or both!

Fundamentals of Drawing and Composition

This class is designed for the beginner or for those who need review in basic design concepts.  We will explore organization, arrangement, and combinations of objects within the drawing space.  Class topics will include establishing a focal point, how overlapping is effective, using negative space, lines that move the eye through the drawing, balance, contrast and proportion.  These basic concepts can be applied to any form of artistic endeavor.  Each class will have demonstrations and allow for student practice.  Our tools will be mainly paper, pencils, and charcoal.  A $10 fee will be paid to the instructor for supplies.

Weaving with Willow: Tension Trays

A decorative and artistic way of serving fruits, breads and other foods, this tension tray is fun to make and can be displayed proudly when not in use.  Made with locally harvested willow, these trays are held together entirely by tension and include additional woven details as a decorative element.  Students will learn basic weaving techniques and gain experience working with willow shoots.  A willow tension tray makes a great serving platter, cooling rack, or artistic wall hanging.  Please bring hand held pruning shears if you have them, and a $10 materials fee to class.

Paint Like the Impressionists!

This class will explore how the Impressionists painted.  The impressionistic approach to painting will help you gain an understanding of color and its relationships in the painting, as well as a basic understanding of oil painting.  Learn the concepts of thick over thin use of paint, warm over cool colors, complementaries, harmony, edges, shape/quality, variety, simplifying and loosening brushwork.  Open to all skill levels.  A materials list will be emailed after registration.

Printmaking: Letterpress

Learn the basics of running the MAC’s own Vandercook press.  You will experience the entire process of carving your own linoleum cut, hand setting type and making pressure prints, then inking the press and printing your unique works of art!  Experiment with different varieties of paper and design techniques to create reproducible art!  This class is suitable for beginner to intermediate levels of printmaking.  All materials will be supplied by the instructor.

Painting the Floral Still Life All Prima!

Painting floral still life is a wonderful and liberating experience.  There is no better metaphor for the act of painting and exploring the palette than that provided by the diversity and splendor of the floral arrangement.  Students will paint from life while receiving one-on-one instruction, and will gain a basic understanding of oil painting.  We will work on the following areas: compositing, drawing, color, value and edges.  Open to all skill levels.  Materials fee of $10 for the floral arrangement to be paid to the instructor at the beginning of class.  A materials list will be emailed after registration.

Wine, Paint, Canvas!

Join an experienced art educator as he guides you from start to finish through the creation of a new painting at each event. Drinks will be available for purchase throughout the duration of the event and there will be plenty of breaks to socialize, too. Absolutely no art experience is required. Come learn in a fun and supportive environment surrounded by your friends. Ages 21+.

 Open Figure Drawing

This group meets weekly to draw from a live model. No instruction is provided and participants must provide their own materials. Poses usually range from 15 minutes to 30 minutes. Serious artists of all levels are welcome to join this group. Please note that models are sometimes nude.  Please enter through the door on Hwy 2.
