June 5-6 | Morris, MN
This year’s Rural Arts and Culture Summit, “Leveraging Arts and Culture to Build Thriving Communities,” celebrates the transformative power of arts-based community development in rural towns. Hosted by the Center for Small Towns at the University of Minnesota-Morris, this event will gather leaders from all over the country to share innovative models for bridging partnerships between the arts and community issues, such as health, environment, sense of place, liveability and economic development. The Summit will feature a wide variety of presentations, panels, networking opportunities, and hands-on workshops.
Ashley Kolka, MacRostie Gallery & Finance Coordinator, will be participating in panel titled “Engaging Rural Communities through Art and Design” with Minneapolis College of Art & Design President Jay Coogan during Wednesday’s breakout sessions. They will be discussing MCAD’s rural summer residency program in Grand Rapids.
