Downtown Art Fair | July 8

MacRostie Art Center presents its annual summer art fair — a community celebration of art and creativity! The Downtown Art Fair will take place on Saturday, July 8 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on the Historic Central School grounds in downtown Grand Rapids. Admission to the event is free and the public is encouraged to attend. The Downtown Art Fair is sponsored by Rapids Printing, Lefty’s Tent and Party Rental, and Paul Bunyan Communications.

Kick off the day with MAC’s first annual 5K ColorRun.Walk.Stroll, sponsored by American Bank! Registration and same-day signup will begin at 7:00 on July 8 at the MAC Tent on the Central School grounds. This event is designed with both active runners and families in mind. Get colorful and creative at the four biosafe color powder stations on the route, and have fun with your friends while supporting local art! Click here for more information.

Over 30 regional artist vendors will be on-site from 9 am to 4 pm displaying and selling artwork including painting, glass, woodworking, pottery, jewelry, weaving, and more. Food vendors include Log Home Wood Fired Pizza, with artisan pizzas for breakfast, lunch, and dessert. Live music will be featured throughout the event with the hot club jazz meets European folk group Sam Miltich and Friends from 10 am – 12 pm, followed by the acoustic folk rock group G-Rock Revival on stage from 1 – 3 pm.

MacRostie Art Center instructors will lead free art activities for kids and families from 10 am to 3 pm under the MAC tent. Take a break in the shade with activities like miniature canvas painting & more! No art experience or pre-registration is necessary. Art fair patrons of all ages are invited to celebrate their creativity through art-making!

An art raffle benefiting the work of MacRostie Art Center will be held under the MAC tent throughout the day. $5 raffle tickets can be purchased in advance at MacRostie Art Center or at the Art Fair on July 8 for a chance to win. Prizes include a wooden table by Eric Mann, a loon bag by Leah Yellowbird, and a copper tree made by Bob Mitchell, as well as over a dozen art items donated by the on-site artist vendors. Raffle winners will be announced beginning at 3 pm.
